Goodbye 3rd class!

Dear third class,
You're all very special girls
And I wanted you to know,
How I loved to be your teacher,
How fast the year did go!
Please come back to visit me
As through the classes you grow,
Try hard to learn all you can,
There is so much to know!
The one I tried to teach you
To last your whole life through,
Is to know that you are special,
Just because you are you!

Best wishes,
Miss Fitzpatrick

Hello everybody you are talking to Anna and Patricija.
Today is a sunny day. Firstly in class we did our tests, when we finished our tests we did P.E everyone was so tired after it. After that it was lunchtime and we got our lunch. On the yard me and Patricija played ninja with our friends. After lunch we came in and we did maths. Then it was time for big lunch and to go outside. Next we went to computers that is when we started writing OUR CLASS NEWS.

We are in the process of designing and making our very own doll houses. Don't forget if you have any old shoe boxes or cardboard boxes to send them in. We love making things from recycled materials.

Games and toys in the past

In history we have been talking about games and toys and how they have changed over the years. To help us gather evidence of what toys were like in the past we interviewed our parents and grandparents. We asked them questions to help us find out what toys were like when they were younger. Here are two of the interviews:
Mecheile carried out an interview with her mammy
1.     What kind of toys did you play with? rag dolls, skipping ropes and bikes.
2.    How have toys changed from when you were younger? The toys today are all electric with a lot of chargers.
3.    Did you enjoy playing with your toys? I loved it! Every evening after school with my friends playing mammy and daddy with our dolls.
4.    Did you have many toys? No not really as I came from a family of thirteen so we shared what we had or made up our own games.
5.    Do you still have any of your old toys? I do yes an old teddy and my rag doll Sally.
6.    What games did you play when you were younger? hop scotch, dolls and prams, playing doctors and nurses
7.    Which game did you like the best? Playing with my dolls in my Wendy house
8.    Did you make up any of your own games? Yes we made a swing with an old tyre and tied it to a tree

Denisa interviewed her mum.
1.     What kind of toys did you play with? Barbies, teddies, dolls and a teddy that sucks his thumb.
2.    How have toys changed from when you were younger? Now things are more electric.
3.    Did you enjoy playing with your toys? Yes a lot.
4.    Did you have many toys? Yes a lot.
5.    Do you still have any of your old toys? no.
6.    What games did you play when you were younger? Match cards and don’t  be angry.
7.    Which game did you like the best? I liked all of them.
8.    Did you make up any of your own games? I do not remember.

Valentine's Day Love Bugs

Valentine Love Bugs on PhotoPeach

Beauty and the Beast

There was a show called Beauty and the Beast. Our class went to the hall to see the show. It was exciting in the start. The prince was mean then he turned into a beast. Our favorite character was Belle. Belle was a kind girl, she had brown hair. Our least favorite character was Gaston people said that he was smelly. He only took a bath last year. He had a friend that is really funny, he was like a joker. Belle has a dog called Scruffy he was all white with black spots. He keeps hiding from Belle. Belle wanted to go to her father but Gaston tricked her and he told her to go to the forest and Belle answered “There is a beast in the forest so I am not going there!” Gaston said to her that there is no beast so off Belle went. Then Belle got lost because Scruffy got lost too. After finding Scruffy she saw a huge castle. Belle knocked on the castle door we told her not to because the beast lived there but Belle said “there is no such a thing as a beast”. Suddenly the door opened and out came a tea pot. The tea pot let Belle in. Then Belle saw a candle his name was Lumiere it was the tea pots friend. The tea pot leaded Belle to the beast. Belle got scared at once she thought that the beast would eat her. After they got used to each other the tea pot decided that she has to eat dinner here because it was dark. And Belle said yes. After that Belle wore a lovely dress. Then when they wanted to start the dinner Belle and the beast started dancing. The beast fell in love with her, he thought that Belle would break the spell. Butsuddenly Gaston came to kill the beast! They started to fight and he took his sword and stuck it in the beast! When the beast was dying the magic cured him and then the spell broke. And they both lived happily ever after.

Oceans Alive

We went to a science workshop all about the oceans it was really good. They told us all about sharks, squids, fish and plants. Now we will tell you about it. He brought in posters of the sea. At the top of the sea it is bright and when it gets deeper it gets darker. At the very bottom of the sea it’s called the midnight zone and there are creatures at the bottom that can give themselves light .There is plankton, coral and seaweed there. Seaweed is very useful for food like ice-cream. You can make shark fin soup. They catch the shark and cut its fin off for soup then they let them go back into the water and they die. In the middle of the sea it’s the twilight zone there are sharks, squids and fish there.  The sharks do not eat the fish in the twilight because they are too small to eat .The sharks use there sense of touch and smell in the dark to catch fish far away from them and the sharks can smell a drop of blood from miles away. Near the end we all stood on a shark mat. It was fun. At the end we got to see dead creatures from the sea.

Religious Traditions

During our Religion lessons this week we were talking about traditions. We compared our religious traditions to those of other faiths. It was very interesting. There were many differences but also some similarities. Nora kindy shared with us some traditions from her religion, Islam and she even brought in some traditional items.
